City Spot - Jalan Progo

My teacher told the class that we had to write about a spot in our city, which is Bandung. And so I decided to tell you guys about a specific street in Bandung called Progo Street.
Progo street is a street (duh) in Bandung in which you can find various places to eat and hang around with other people, or just yourself.
The kinds of food that you can find in Progo Street is diverse, you can find traditional foods, western foods, and eastern foods.
If you're searching for traditional foods then you can start from the very beginning of the road and I'm talking about the one near Jonas Photo. There you can find a lot of street vendors and warung. So if you're ever short of cash and you're near this area then yeah you should try going here. And I'm also sure that in most of the restaurants in Progo Street, they have at least one traditional menu. Just like in Gigglebox you can find nasi goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice) even though it's a western themed restaurant. Kopi Progo also provides traditional foods.
Right so moving on to western foods. Just as I have said one sentence before, Gigglebox is a western themed restaurant and it's a really unique place because it gives you that vintage vibe. Another place you can go to is Hummingbird eatery and guesthouse. Hummingbird is also unique in my opinion because when you go inside you see this place/thing that looks like a bird's nest.
If you're looking for eastern food then you should go find a place called Qahwa. It's located near Jonas Photo and near the street vendors.
Now if you're looking for Asian foods there's a place called Tokyo Connection which mainly sells Japanese foods. You can find varieties of sushi, donburi and other traditional Japanese foods.

Hummingbird eatery and guesthouse also has its own Asian Menu.
If you're not feeling really hungry and you're searching for some light meals may I suggest Mom's Bakery? Mom's Bakery is a place which sells baked goods and cakes. If you're looking for gluten free bread then you can find those here.
Another place you can go to is Rocca. It's a really comfortable place to hang out with and they provide delicious light meals!

So yeah if you ever go to Bandung and you're looking for a place to meet up with your friends or family then you should try going to Progo Street and visit the restaurants and bakeries there. Hope this helps!

Beyonce - Listen

Hey guys, today I'm going to talk about a song that I really like. It is Listen by Beyonce. This song was written by Henry Krieger, Scott Cutler, Anne Preven, and the Queen B herself.
This song was sang by Beyonce in her movie called Dreamgirls.
I think this song is really meaningful and deep.Anyway here's the lyrics to the song

Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start but can't complete

Listen, to the sound from deep within
It's only beginning
To find release

Oh, the time has come
For my dreams to be heard
They will not be pushed aside and turned
Into your own
All cause you won't
Listen

[Chorus:]
Listen, I am alone at a crossroads
I'm not at home, in my own home
And I've tried and tried
To say what's on my mind
You should have known

Oh, now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what you made of me
I followed the voice you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own

You should have listened
There is someone here inside
Someone I'd thought had died
So long ago

Oh, I'm screaming out, and my dreams will be heard
They will not be pushed aside on words
Into your own
All cause you won't
Listen

[Chorus]
I don't know where I belong
But I'll be moving on
If you don't
If you won't

Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start
But I will complete

Oh, now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what you've made of me
I followed the voice you think you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own
My own

I think this song talks about someone whose life is being controlled by other people and she has never gotten a chance to fight for what she really desires. And through this song she is expressing her feelings on how she's going to start reaching for her dreams and how she's going to stop living in a way that someone wants her to live. Besides the meaningful lyrics, this song has a really nice melody and sound. The song starts in a low pitched voice and the pitch increases in the chorus.
I am currently a member of a Vocal Group in my school called KV3 (Kelompok Vokal 3). To get in the vocal group I had to go through the auditions first. And I actually sang this song in the auditions twice.

DEWA ATHENA

Not too long ago, there was an event in my school called Dewa Athena. It's some sort of sport event where the 10th and 11th graders participated and competed in different kinds of sport competition. It was the 7th Dewa Athena. There was a lot of competition, such as basketball, soccer, dodge ball, and many more. And here's the logo of Dewa Athena.
On Saturday I came to Lapangan Bali at 6 o'clock because apparently we were supposed to be there by 6:15 but everyone got there at like 6:30 so I had to wait for my friends alone:(
Then after everyone came the committees gathered all of us in the basketball field and we had to line up with our class. After we all line up, there was an opening and greetings from the head of the program, head of the student council and our principal. I felt kind of bad because a lot of people weren't paying attention and they were busy with themselves. But anyways after the opening and greetings were finished we had a little color-run event. Each class had a sportswoman and a sportsman, which was like our mascots so they had to wear the class' jersey while the rest of us wore white shirts. So we had to jog in the morning (ugh) and after we finished jogging people sprayed some colored-water on us. So after that our white shirts had colormarks on them.
After the color run, the competitions started. I participated in the relay race with 3 of my classmates. We competed against X-7 but sadly we lost. I still had fun though.
Dewa Athena continued to go on for the next weeks with a lot of different competitions.
The last competition I saw was soccer between our class, X-3 and X-8 and let me tell you, it was one hell of a competition. At the end of them game, the score was tied between two classes and we had to do a penalty kick, or should I say penalty kicks. Both classes did penalty kicks that reached up to 22 penalty kicks until X-8 scored and so the battle was won by X-8. I had fun watching it. I  cheered and supported my class with my other classmates.
Anyway here is a couple pictures of Dewa Athena

Natural Phenomenon

Nature is really amazing. With all the technologies growing and expanding a lot of people are more interested in technologies than nature. But what they don't know is that there are things such as natural phenomena which is an observable event which is not man-made and happens naturally. Sunset and sunrise are examples of natural phenomena. You might think but that's really normal and usual and we see them everyday. Well folks today I am going to talk about a rare natural phenomenon. Which is this..

What do you think when you first see those pictures? Those might look like jellyfish or jewels but those are actually frozen methane bubbles. Despite the pretty sight, methane is a flammable gas so if one of these bubbles popped you wouldn't want to be close to one and you certainly shouldn't light a fire here. Also methane is a highly toxic gas. But if you're still curious then this is what happens when a bubble pops and you ignite a fire

So how did this happen?
The methane bubbles are formed when dead organic matter such as animals and plants sink into the bottom of the water and invite a bunch of bacteria. The bacteria then eats the matter and lets out methane gas which turns into these bubbles because of the frozen water.
If you're really curious and you're thinking of going to see it you can go visit the lakes in Canada such as Minnewanka and Vermillion Lake in Banff National Park.
Another interesing thing is that some bubbles form below other bubbles which then creates some kind of sequence of frozen bubbles and it's really bizarre yet beautiful.
Can you walk over those bubbles? Well I wouldn't say walk

But you can skate! Just remember to be careful of the methane gas if one of the bubbles pop!

Today in English class we had to make some kind of advertisement on a piece of white paper. What's an advertisement? An advertisement is some kind of public announcement to get people's attention. We had to bring our own piece of paper and also coloring utensils. What I did was well I drew and wrote and voila! I made an advertisement.

"Looking for a space where you can do business and multiply your money? Well you should rent a space! We provide great strategic places for you to do business with affordable prices. You will not regret it!"

Soooo as you can see in the picture my advertisement is about renting a space where you can sell stuff such as food. The fee is Rp 200K - 300K a month. And if you're interested then you can contact John at the number given in the advertisement. Who's John? Well John is someone I made up and this advertisement is not real just so you know. And I also made up the number so if you happen to call it and someone answers it then I have nothing to do with it.
Thank you for reading!

FOOOOOOOD

Heeey what's up people how are you doing? I am feeling quite happy with my homework right now because the teacher told us to write about food! Wooo alright so let's do this.
Who doesn't love food? No one, because food is one of the best things in life. I personally like a lot of foods. I like Asian food, Western food, Mexican food. I like foods from all over the world. To be honest I spent like 15 minutes deciding on which food I should talk about first because there are too many choices and I love them all.
Because I'm Asian I thought I should talk about Asian foods first. I am from Indonesia and just like any other Asian people, we Indonesians also eat a lot of rice. Every Asian country has its own version of fried rice and in Indonesia we have our own version of fried rice as well or as we call it, nasi goreng. We have varieties of food but my favorite kind of food is Padang food. Padang is a place in Indonesia and I assure they have really good food. Most of Padang foods are spicy. My favorite Padang food is called Rendang which is a really really really spicy beef curry.

Next I am going to talk about food from outside of Indonesia but still in Asia. The one food that I have in my mind right now is sushi which is from Japan. I'm pretty sure you guys know what sushi is. It's a combination of vinegared rice with other ingredients (usually fish). Sushi is usually eaten with soy sauce and wasabi.

Enough with Asian food now let's talk about Mexican Food. My favorite Mexican food is tacos!!! A taco is a bunch of ingredients such as vegetables, meat, and cheese combined together and put in a tortilla. There are two kinds of tortillas, a hard, crispy tortilla and a soft one. I personally prefer eating soft shelled tacos because I think it tastes better.

Alright guys now let's move on to Italian fooood! Italy has a lot of really good food, but I'm going to have to go with pizza and pasta. Pizza is a flat bread topped with cheese, sauce, and other toppings which will later go in the oven and get baked.

Pasta is made of water and flour mixed together and shaped into different shapes. It's usually eaten with different sauces. My favorite kind of pasta is ravioli. Ravioli is a pasta that has a filling and it's dee-liishh.

I actually have more in my mind but right now...Let's talk about dessertss!!! Dessert is what makes me happy and cheery and it basically just puts me in a good mood. I actually like a LOT of desserts but my favorite desserts would be cheese cake, red velvet cake, chocolate lava cake, and ice cream.
Cheese cake is a cake that's made out of cheese (Duhh). Usually the bottom of the cake is a bunch of crushed graham crackers. I live in Bandung, Indonesia and I usually buy cheesecakes from a cheesecake store called Cizz. They really have good cheesecakes and when you eat them, they just melt in your mouth.

Red Velvet cakes are red colored cakes that are usually layered and topped with cream cheese. You can also turn the cakes into cupcakes and the cream cheese will be the frosting of the cupcakes. I actually have baked red velvet cupcakes a few times and they're yummyyyy.

Next I'm going to talk about chocolate lava cakes. Chocolate lava cakes are cakes that are filled with gooey delicious and rich chocolate which will just melt in your mouth and take your mind somewhere else. It's just really good.

Lastly I will talk about everyone's favorite. ICE CREAAAM!
Ice cream is a frozen dessert usually made with milk or cream. There are many kinds of ice cream. Vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate-chip and many other flavors. But for my favorite ice cream flavor, I would have to go with cookies and cream. Cookies and cream is basically just vanilla ice cream mixed with oreo cookies. Sometimes when I'm sad I would just go to the supermarket and buy a bucket of Cookies and cream ice cream and just finish is by myself because it's just too delicious :(

Soooooo those are some of many many many foods that I love eating. Of course I can't eat them all everyday because sometimes you gotta go with the veggies and fruits to keep your body healthy. So anyways, thank you for reading and I hope I made you hungry. Byee!

My Holiday

Hey guys, guess what? I could finally take a break from all the work and the stress and the headaches. That's right, the first semester of school is finished. So right now I am going to tell you about activities that I did on my school break.
I think the most memorable part of my recent holiday is when I went to Palembang with my family and my cousins. In Palembang, we had my some family from my mom's side so we stayed in my mom's cousin's house.
First, I went from Bandung to Jakarta with a car and we had a cousin in Jakarta which we stayed overnight in. Then, we took a taxi from my cousin's house and went to the airport and took an airplane to Palembang. Once we got to the airport in Palembang, we got picked up and went straight to my mom's cousin's house.
In Palembang I did a lot of things. My cousins and my family went to try a lot of new foods in Palembang. We also went to The Ampera Bridge and had a ride on a boat to Kemaro Island which is located not too far from The Ampera Bridge. Here is a picture of The Ampera Bridge at night.
And here's a picture taken in daylight.
I think the bridge looks more interesting at night because of all the lights and because it's dark you can't really see the water which is kind of dirty and icky.
Here's a picture of one of the restaurants that we visited. It's called River Side and if you're wondering it is located in the riverside. As you can see through the window there's river water. The food was really good and it was a fun experience.

We also went to visit a lot of relatives, which to be honest, some I had never met before. Some of my relatives lived in a more village-like place in Palembang and we visited them. We were greeted warmly. The houses in the village are different than the houses yo usually see in the cities. The houses here made out of wood and they were above ground houses. My relatives taught us how to cook fish crackers. It was really interesting. We were also served some traditional food.
We stayed in Palembang for a week more or less. We went back to Jakarta with a plane bringing so much more stuff to than we first brought when we first came to Palembang.
Back in Bandung, I returned to my lazy self again. What I did was watch a ton of movies and stayed on my laptop, watched a lot of videos on youtube (I mean, come on, what kind of person only watches one youtube video, right?). I also hung out with my friends (I met them face to face, we did not hang out using the internet), good to know I still have a life. I went to my old school and met my old friends. Then I hung out with Farid (he also goes to SMAN 3), Azka, and Febi who were my friends back in Junior High. We hung out together to watch a movie and played games and I really enjoyed it I wish I could hang out with them again. Then I slept over in Azka's house and we watched another movie and couldn't really sleep so we talked all night.
So yep after that I stayed at home and wasted my time on movies again. The movies I watched were Pride and Prejudice, Se7en, The Imitation Game, and a lot more. Oh I also went jogging and I was proud of myself for doing that. Another thing that I did in Bandung is that I visited my cousin's cafe with my cousins and aunts (The dads were going somewhere together). The cafe is called Little Wings and it's located in the upper side of Dago. If you're curious about it you should go visit the cafe. There are 80s magazines there so that's interesting right. The place is just so vintage and I recommend all of you to go there.
Soooo I guess that's how my holiday went, not too bad right.
